Another「思い出のマーニー」(Omoide no Mani/When Marnie Was There) update: in addition to the sparkling new trailer (which by now has been watched more than 18,000 times – up from the 500 yesterday morning), we also now have a music video for “Fine on the Outside”, the theme song of the latest Studio Ghibli film. It’s a video of the full song, something which is a little surprising.

“Fine on the Outside”, composed and performed by Priscilla Ahn, is the first Ghibli film theme song that comes all in English, which means the video actually comes with Japanese subtitles. I confess I miss the Japanese (or the Japanese-English mixture) that Ghibli songs normally come with, but oh well. It’s a simple and rather gentle piece, with very melancholic lyrics that match the story of Omoide no Mani incredibly well – especially given that Ahn wrote them when she was in high school.
