A tweet from @AlltheAnime and a blog post led me to some great Studio Ghibli fan art this morning. The artist is malboro, who has done a small set of Ghibli vignettes in Art Noveuaux style. The one above is, of course, from「ハウルの動く城」(Hauru no Ugoku Shiro/Howl’s Moving Castle).

Have a look and pick your favourite. Mine is Howl, followed by Laputa, in case you are wondering – both lend themselves wonderfully to the Art Noveaux style. Totoro, meanwhile, doesn’t work so well (the drawing is lovely, but is moving away from the Art Noveaux).

「天空の城ラピュタ」 (Tenkū no Shiro Rapyuta/Laputa – Castle in the Sky): EPSON MFP image

It’s not malboro’s only Studio Ghibli fan art, as I found two more Ghibli-inspired pictures on his/her pixiv site, one in Japanese/Chinese painting style, the other being a thematic compilation of all the “plane lovers” in Ghibli movies:

「もののけ姫」 (Mononoke-hime/Princess Mononoke):
