Reason #56… because you’ll find a (slightly belated) Chinese New Year card (a hóngbāo!!!) from your family in the mail, purchased in Thailand and sent from India to the UK, all thanks to living in Taiwan for a couple of years during childhood.
Funnily enough, my (British) flatmate only saw the plain pink envelope and concluded “Must be for Valentine’s Day” but I immediately said, “Nope! Definitely Chinese New Year.”
P.S. More on the folkloric beginnings of the hóngbāo tradition.
