A few films have been added to the Scotland Loves Anime festival line-up. These are all screenings that are scheduled before the official SLA dates (Glasgow Oct 12-14, 2012 and Edinburgh Oct 19-21, 2012) but offer yet more wonderful anime fare.
Note: clicking on the Japanese titles will take you the movie theatre’s page for that particular film.
Additions for Glasgow:
- 7 Oct:「獣兵衛忍風帖」 (Jūbē Ninpūchō/Ninja Scroll, Japan, 1993). This one was already for the programme for Edinburgh, now Glaswegians get to see it too.
Additions for Edinburgh:
- 15 Oct: Anime Shorts (90 mins runtime) – Not much information is given in terms of which shorts will be shown, except for 「東京マーブルチョコレート」(Tōkyō Māburu Chokorēto/Tokyo Marble Chocolate, Japan, 2007), episodes 1 and 2, a collaborative project between Production I.G and BMG Japan to commemorate their 20th anniversaries. The story: Chizuru loves Yuudai, and Yuudai love Chizuru, but somehow they struggle to communicate their feelings for each other. Caught up in the failures of past relationships, each one grapples with a renewed fear of love not working. Runtime for the two episodes is 50 minutes, leaving another 40 for yet unannounced shorts.
- 16 Oct: 「逆転裁判 蘇る逆転」 (Gyakuten Saiban Yomigaeru Gyakuten/Phoenix Wright – Ace Attorney, Japan, 2012). This one was on the line-up for Glasgow, but it’s now screening in Edinburgh as well.
- 17 Oct: 「コクリコ坂から」(Kokuriko-zaka Kara/From up on Poppy Hill, Japan, 2011) – REVIEW on Otherwhere.
Really too bad that Scotland Loves Anime and the London Film Festival essentially take place at the same time, as it makes attending both a challenge – you are bound to miss out on parts of each festival at least.
