The good (fabulous!) news: the Studio Ghibli Retrospective has its next stop at the USA Film Festival in Dallas, Texas, on January 21-22, 2012. Eleven Studio Ghibli films will screen as part of the Annual KidFilm event – you can find the full schedule here. They also have a Facebook page, which is more up to date than the main website.

The (somewhat) bad news: Because this is a ‘kids’ festival, only 天空の城ラピュタ (Tenkū no Shiro Rapyuta/Laputa: Castle in the Sky) will be shown with subtitles, all other films come dubbed.

So: take the kids.

If you do want go for a dubbed Ghibli yourself, ハウルの動く城 (Hauru no Ugoku Shiro/Howl’s Moving Castle) is actually worth watching both in English and Japanese – Christian Bale makes a very enchanting Howl and I rather enjoyed Billy Crystal’s Calcifer as well.
