Good news (via email and twitter – website update is still due) from the Korean Cultural Centre UK in London: the previously bimonthly film nights have been extended to four screenings per month. Designating 2012 as the “Year of 12 Directors”, they are also planning to bring in directors for Q&A sessions next year.
The KCCUK kick this special year off with a look at director Lee Myung-se with four screenings of the director’s work culminating with a Q&A with the director himself.
Screenings are free (although advancing booking is required) and you can also win a Korean film DVD if you tweet a review (@Twitter.com/koreanfilmfest) – they’ll be hearing aplenty from me…
On the programme for January:
January 5th: 인정사정 볼 것 없다 (Nowhere To Hide, 1999)
January 12th: 엠 (Em/M, 2007)
January 19th: 개그맨 (Gagman/Gagman, 1989)
January 26th: 형사 (Hyeongsa/Duelist, 2005) + Q&A with director Lee Myung-se
I will be out of country until nearly the end of January, but will make it back just in time for 형사 (Hyeongsa/Duelist) – which, from this first quartet of offerings, is the film I’m most interested in seeing (set in the Joseon era, stars Kang Dong-won AND features a Q&A!).
Off to reserve my ticket. 🙂
