2012 Sundance

The Sundance Institute has released the list of films – whittled down from more than 4000 entries – in competition for the 2012 festival: 2012 Festival Programme (synopsis for each film is included)

The Sundance Film Festival takes place from January 19 to 29 in Utah.

I will leave commenting on the selection for now, save for one film: ももいろそらを (Momoiro Sora o/About the Pink Sky, Japan, 2011) won Best Film at the 24th Tokyo International Film Festival and I’m certainly looking forward to catching this production some time sooner rather than later. The screenshots I have found on the web look lovely and I like that it has been shot in black and white. Plus, I like the feel of the film – as much as one can get a sense of this with a 1:32 minute trailer.

First Sundance London

In related news, next year will also see the first Sundance London, which is to take place in April 2012. I will provide more details as they are announced, but for now the institute has put out a call for volunteers – probably a good way to score some free tickets (often one of the benefits when you volunteer at a film festival).
