…after only about five gazillion years.

StudioCanal UK, which is distributing the film in the UK, made the announcement today that Miyazaki Hayao ‘final’ film would hit British cinemas on May 9 – long after several international film festival screenings plus the US release date of February 21.

No word yet on other details such as festival and/or preview screenings or the home release to follow. We do know that the film will have its UK premiere at the Glasgow Youth Film Festival this weekend though, but this has been the only confirmed event so far. Maybe there’s hope for it at the BFI Ghibli Season that popped up – surprisingly and without no details provided – in the institute’s March catalogue (see below)? BFI GHibli
